Summer Day Riding Overview

Safe Horse Handling, Riding Lessons, Trail Rides, Grooming, Feeding, Games, Creek Walks and MORE...

Summer Day Riders will:

1. Learn Horsemanship
                 A. Safety around the barn & horses
                 B. Leading a horse from the ground
                 C. Exercising and Longeing a horse
                 D. Proper riding techniques

2. Complete 5 lessons on Horses (levels for all ages)
                A. Horse personalities: reading their ears, eyes & tail
                B. Types of popular horses, horse markings & colors
                C. Tack
                D. Horse care & tools
                E. Horse shows and types of jumps

3. Receive a T-shirt, design and make their own & riding crop

PLUS... Scavenger Hunts, Arts & Craft projects and homemade horse treats

Typical Day

8:00am: Day Starts: Riders begin 1 of 3 Activity Centers:.

8:00am:

1. Mounted Riding Lesson, Games on Horseback or Trail Ride

2. Learn Safety techniques, Groom, Tack, Halter, Lead a horse (Lessons based on their level of experience)

3. Lesson on breeds, points, confirmation, markings, colors, Horse parts/ Barn related arts & crafts

8:45am: Change to different Activity Center (above)

9:30am: Change to different Activity Center (above)

9:45am: Untack & a Snack. Plus cool down horses, sponge/wash as necessary, groom and put away tack

10:00am: Barn Activities... scavenger hunts, crafts, clean tack, buckets, troughs. Get a horse "parade" ready, learn to toss a lasso, bathe a horse...
